Science Selective Recovery Liquid Feed

Science Recovery is one of those products we hope you'll buy but never use... it's the kind of product every small animal owner should have... just in case.

To facilitate this, we are selling Science Recovery in individual 20g sachets as well as the box with 10 x 20g sachets.

Buy a 10 x 20g Box of Supreme Recovery and receive a free specially designed wide bore feeding syringe. The Supreme Feeding Syringe is perfect for assisted feeding (anyone who has tried using a standard syringe will know!). The wide bore facilitates better delivery of the feeding formulation - less mess and (hopefully) more consumption.

The Supreme Feeding Syringe is also available on this website individually here.

Recovery is designed to be a complete food for animals that are sick or recuperating. During illness animals are reluctant to eat food, feeding Recovery diet will provide all the nutrients a herbivore needs without additional food through this period. The levels of protein, carbohydrates and fibre are elevated above that of a maintenance diet as required in higher levels during illness and recovery.

Rabbits have an extremely sensitive gut which when ill can cause secondary problems. In other animals food can be withheld without any adverse problems. Rabbits guts need food to stimulate movement and therefore eat constantly through the day. During any form of illness they may be inappetent and not feed. This results in the movement of the gut slowing down or, in the worst scenario, gut stasis. This is often irreversible and will result in death. For this reason it is vital to provide food with high fibre levels to keep the gut moving. Recovery diet kick starts the gut into motion and maintains nutritional levels at the same time. So it provides nutrients, rehydrates the patient and also prevents gut stasis, all of which are vital during illness.

The manufacturer states Recovery can be used with rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, tortoises, iguanas and even pygmy goats! However, it is not suitable in a concentrated form for rats, hamsters or gerbils as they do not require high levels of fibre.

Please Note: Veterinary advice should always be sought in the case of an animal suspected as being unwell. This product is designed to help in the recovery of a sick animal and is not designed to cure an illness. It should always be administered by a competent individual under the guidance of a qualified veterinarian.
